    A bit of advice!

If you live in Alberta, there is a good chance that very soon an oil/gas company will come knocking on your door...MGV(Methane Gas Ventures). This is a totally American owned company.
They drill into the coalbed to extract the methane gas.
The first thing I will tell you is this...this company is not the Canadian junior oil companies that most of us deal with! In fact they are a bunch of complete pirates who could show the likes of Tyson and Cargill a thing or two!
They make great promises that are complete lies. The first...the coalbed is dry! Yes it is...probably for two to three years! Then the water extraction starts!
The second "lie", if you will, is they require a very small lease? Which is true...but ask why they need a caveate of approximaitly twice the lease...which incidently they won't pay you for?
The third "lie" is this: They require 16 gas wells/section because it is coalbed methane? When right now questions are being asked if they are instead drilling into the Belly River formation...which would regulate them to ONE well/section?(This one might sink them!)
You really need to become aware of this sleazy American company! Get a very competent oil and gas lawyer before you sign anything! Sure saved my butt!!!

cowman thanks for the advise. Another little bit that might tie in here sort of. We took 10 days off last year and made a trip into northern B.C. the Bennet Dam was one stop. We talked to the people running the tours about the Americans attitudes. They were saying that california owed them 300 million dollars from electicity used that past winter. California accused them of price gouging and declared bankrupcy. No assets were ever sold business went on as if nothing ever happened and B.C. got stuck. They quit selling to California but now sell to Idaho but guess what Idaho now sells to California good old Canada rollover and take it. So now I start to wonder if these large companies control the banks that our country owes money to is that why we are always are taking this crap and our goverment seems so spineless. what do you people think? does this mafia type business really have that much power?
