    Kent County: Whereas rumours are circulating that an Ontario packer has begun giving preference to the slaughter of "American owned cattle from Western Canada; whereas the owners of these cattle are known as R-Calf, the lead organization opposing the opening of the U.S. boarder to Canadian cattle: and whereas Ontario packers have received provincial subsidies in order to assure the Ontario beef industry of sufficient slaughter capacity during the BSE crisis, therefore be it resolved the OFA, in conjunction with the Ontario Cattlemen's Association, use appropriate research to ascentain the accuracy of these allegations; Further, that if these allegations are substantiated, that approprieate measures be taken. Defeated.

    ot sure who or what meeting this is but must have some feeders in it feeding American/R-calf cattle.

      Just because the OFA won't check it out, it doesn't mean someone else can't.

      From what I have been reading, some of these feedlots are just finding out now about the ownership of these cattle, because there are brokers involved.

        Actually Kato, just because the OFA doesn't want to OFFICIALLY be chasing wild rumours, doesn't mean the OFA and OCA aren't checking it out quietly.
        And from everything I've heard, it's just a wild rumour.

            This is interesting folks. I'm in Ontario and I haven't heard anything about this. Does anyone know which slaughter/packer it is.
