APHIS changing the way it handles 'inconclusive' BSE tests
USDA's APHIS announced Wednesday it will now take and additional step before declaring results of a rapid test for BSE. A result will only be announced as an inconclusive if one of two additional rapid tests is also reactive. At that point a confirmatory test will be conducted at National Veterinary Services Laboratories in Ames Iown. National Cattlemen's Association says this protocal is consistent with the manufactures's instructions for the rapid test, and says they suggested this change to USDA.
