I'm stunned! had a conversation tonight with my friend who holds a senior rank in the National Farmers Union in Alberta which leaves me wondering if we live in a democracy. He had turned up at the press conference associated with the Auditor generals announcement of the Packer inquiry a few weeks back. The press conference was underway as he entered to be met with a very hostile and distastful look from Ms McLellan. After watching 10 minutes of the event the speeches ended and reporters were invited to come forward and ask questions of Shirley and Arno Doerkson. On approaching the speakers along with the press members my friend was escorted from the room by security!!
He stated that he also had questions for the minister and she has been refusing to meet with him since April despite him being an elected representative of a farm organisation and a personal champion of family farms and farm families. Frustrated, he managed to persevere and was finally granted a 10 minute private talk with Shirley and Arno which turned out to be a waste of time as they were not prepared to listen to anyone speaking on behalf of primary producers. Shirley called him a "socialist" and Arno called him a "bloodhound" (??)and the interview was over. My god who do these people think they are? especially Doerkson? I can hardly believe this happened.
