    Heads Up

Hang onto your hat, Alberta. This junk didn't move south to Prince George...it's heading east. Wish I had better tidings, but all I can do is give you a heads up. Hopefully we took the brunt of it.

Snowstorm blew in on Friday. Some places received over a foot of heavy wet snow. Knocked the power out for 40,000 rural residents of the B.C. Peace area (Ft.St. John, Dawson Creek, Chetwynd). By Sunday still 8,000 people without power. BC Hydro finally got power turned on here at home by 10:04 pm Sunday night.

Might want to load up on candles and kerosene. Take care.

Sorry to hear that, Cattle Annie. Did you get your feed up during that two days of decent weather this fall?

We were lucky, Pandiana. Got the last of our hay up the day before the August deluge started.

Unfortunately many didn't get their haying done. The majority of the greenfeed is either snowflattened or rotting in swaths. Fields are absolutely waterlogged, so silaging could be tricky, if something of an alternative.

Will not be moving any haybales off the fields now till freeze up.

      How did you make out?
      Take care.

Still working on it. Just started grain silage this week. Most of it is quite ripe but have one late field as green as Ireland. Concerned about frost. Yield has been excellent so far but every day is tense. 8/10 of rain Monday night with some spoilage on top of pile.
