I have long wondered....
Especially considering the varying climates, soil types, the huge geographical area that is this country, and various feeding practices (involving both domestic and imported feeds and supplements) in different areas and at different stages of the production cycle....
Wouldn't testing everything, in addition to improving consumer confidence, also help to prove or disprove various theories regarding the origin and/or causes of this disease. As long as the tests used are accurate, we could track down all the cases and maybe, just maybe, eventually help to track down the source and the cause! What would also be helpful of course would be to cwd test all hunter's animals to ascertain if there is a link. We farmers could perhaps assist this process by keeping track of (ya, I know, a lot of extra work , possibly, and probably, for nothing) the suppliers names, dates, and the lot numbers of any purchased products along with a small sample from each lot. I don't know how one would store this product to preserve it satisfactorily, however. In any case, if something should every come of it, we would be protecting ourselves and "passing the buck" on to the company that produced said item! We would have the proof!
Wouldn't it be "something" to be the country to finally and definitively figure this thing out once and for all! I could see it happening if everyone could work together....for a change!!!!
