How poisonous is (generic) IVOMEC ??

My Dad is incredibly ill. It started to show up within days of IVOMECing cows. He says he got some on him. This was the end of January. It has progressivly gotten worse and worse. Here are the symptoms:
    1. Excessive weight loss.
    2. Sweating
    3. vomiting
    4. fever
    5. shaking
    6. tired all the time
    7. sore muscles
    8. runs out of breath easily

Could this be from (generic) IVOMEC? How harsh is this stuff?

Sorry to hear that, hope he improves soon. I've never heard of Ivomec or it's generic equivilants causing this kind of reaction. I guess the question would be how much did he spill - i'm assuming it was absorbed through the skin and not swallowed?
These symptoms sound a bit like the OP (organo-phosphate)poisoning that folks got back home after dipping sheep and getting soaked in the stuff. It's a very individual thing - some people get hit badly where others are unaffected.

See if you can get to this page. It has the MSDS information. Toxicology info is in here too. Hope everything works out.

            Thanks abunch guys..

He's going to make an appointment with a specialist next week.

Doctor says it looks just like Malaria, but that,s impossible...unless the mosquitoes learned how to survive -30 C.

Ivomec is a systemic pesticide which means that it actually translocates throughout the body of the animal that it is applied to and kills any parasites that may be in that animal. Alot of how much you are affected by the pesticide will depend on your personal physiology. The label will contain an LD50 number which will basically tell you how much pesticide it would take to kill half the people who are exposed to it. If your father is someone who is in the low end of tolerance for this sort of thing, the symptoms you describe would be what he would get from exposure to Ivomec. That said at this point, he will just have to put up with the symptoms and try to stay away from similar products in the near future as there is some residual affect with most chemicals of this type and he will have less tolerance next time around. Good Luck.
