This document concludes discussions on implementation of measures to effectively minimize the risk of BSE within North America including the movement of live cattle.
The measures include a requirement to remove the tonsils and distal ileum from cattle of any age.
The Chief Veterinary Officers (CVO) reiterated their support for surveillance testing of the high risk cattle population as the most effective means of detecting if BSE is present.
