    Fair Market Beef News..

Looks like this thing is gaining momentum, and we've got another tool to help it along.

Fair Market Beef has had a website, but thanks to the generosity of Red Tiger Group, a marketing firm out of Morris MB.,they are getting a newer bigger one, free of charge, complete with a forum for keeping up on the latest developments.

My son, who is an employee of Red Tiger, spoke with the fellows from FMB today, and they sounded very upbeat. Things are rolling along quite nicely from the sound of it, and producer support is really kicking in .... from both sides of the border.

    www.fairmarketbeef.com

The website has been in development since "way back" this afternoon, so while the construction continues, there is a link to the old site, as well as a downloadable poster we can print and share around.

The forum is up and running, and only needs some talkative folks to jumpstart it. LOL

      This is interesting ....

The Prince Edward Federation of Agriculture would like the OFA to follow-up on the R-CALF lawsuit by the Fair Market Beef group.

Resolution from Prince Edward Federation of Agriculture
RE: Consideration of Support for Group Bringing Lawsuit Against R-CALF USA

Whereas the effects of the U.S. ban on Canadian cattle is a disaster and the costs
      continues to mount, and

Whereas the number of cattle testing positive in Canada is very small, and

Whereas Canada has an excellent identification system, and

Whereas the ban is political, not science-based, and

Whereas the continuation of the ban is the result of continuous attacks and
pressure from the group, Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund, United Stockgrowers of America (R-CALF USA).

Therefore be it resolved that OFA discuss with the most severely affected groups
(Ontario Cattlemen's Association, Dairy Farmers of Ontario, Ontario Sheep Producers, etc.) the idea of checking out the credibility and structure of the Fair Market Beef group and consider encouraging OFA members to support the actions of Fair Market Beef to sue R-CALF for the damages they are causing Canadian agriculture.

      Resolution Re: Suing R-CALF
      Background

Obviously R-CALF intends to vigorously oppose the opening of the Canada-U.S. border to live cattle and in fact are trying to get it closed to the meat currently being allowed to cross the border. R-CALF is willing to use any tactic possible regardless of its validity and to continue to have the border closed for as many years as possible.

The only thing that will stop the R-CALF attacks is for them to realize they may have to pay for the damage they are doing.

There is a group called Fair Market Beef already pursuing the action of suing R-CALF, and if they are well organized and capable, then we should publicize and promote this
      action.

Ontario farm groups are presently busy investigating unified voice activities. The R-CALF issue is one the organizations possibly can support while carrying on discussions. The border closing is harming all agriculture and if the R-CALF continues to be successful, other U.S. groups may use similar tactics.

If the Fair Market Beef group does not appear to be well run, then Ontario farm organizations could still support the idea of suing R-CALF without being tied to the Fair Market Beef group.
