    Bonnet Farms?

Apparently an Indian band bought the feedlot and farm with a bunch of government money they got for "land claims". Don't know if they intend to rent it out or what?
As the investigation on what happened at the Bonnet feedlot continues, the most glaring thing I can see is what in the hell was the CIBC doing? They must have had a complete bunch of idiots running the show!
Apparently all the cattle are gone now and the CIBC has the money although in the end they might not get away with stealing the cattle that were being custom fed there? The fact is there are still 4500 cattle that vanished into thin air? Where did they go? Who got the money?
Actually I kind of like it when I see some old farmers screw these idiots. Big business men bankers? Maybe they should have got off their butts and checked out the cattle in the feedlot once in awhile, instead of sitting in the office with their feet on the desk?

Likely the First Nations band will hire a manager and run the feedlot themselves. Sampson Band have a lot of livestock ventures on the go. The four bands at Hobbema receive oil royalties and certainly are well to do. It is good to see them putting capital into ventures in the livestock industry....better them than Cargill !!!

Don't know who will eventually end up the loser in the Bonnett deal, but apparently CIBC held cattle for weeks before they would allow them to be sold and the drop in price cost the owners big time.

Actually the Samson band is renting it back to the Bonnett's to run again. It is not all 4 bands just the Samson Band that bought the property.

Don't mind the banks losing money if they didn't do their jobs, but if there was fraud or theft of cattle thats not right. Nothing wrong with going broke, if you do it on the up and up.

Heard that Bonnets were going to run the thing again as well. Have seen a lot of white guys go through a lot of Indian money on farms and ranches belonging to the Hobbema bands. I would say that Bonnets will recoup a bit of their losses over the next few years on this deal.

The BIG question is; How secure are your brands any more. If the courts can decide who owns the cattle and disrespect the brands then what have we left?
