    Liberals are truly pathetic!!!

Before you vote Liberal think about this....

    - ripping off taxpayers is OK with Liberals.
    - buying votes with taxpayer dollars is OK with Liberals.
    - Giving Belinda Stronach(a novice MP)a cabinet post,in order to cling to power is OK with Liberals.
    - campaigning with public money for 10 months is OK with Liberals.
-Scott Brison(Skippy the Wonder Puppet) is OK with Liberals.
I could go on and on but I have to go and puke right now.The really sad part is that the scumbags will probably get back in when election is finally held.HINT-(don't count on an election this fall after Gomery....Martin will probably slither his way out of that as well)

The West needs to separate. The sooner the better!!!!!!

I have often noticed that theres a hazard to voicing your opinion early in a new thread, but heres my 2 cents

We all are reminded of Mulroney and how quickly his cowboys went by the way, but in my personal opinion his sins were NOTHING compared to the Liberals.

Sure..... there was the GST, but remember the PC's only introduced it to balance the budget, and then the Liberals campaigned to kill it........ and they didn't. They lied about that, and then did nothing to change it. 2 faults!!

However it seems that a lot of people don't want to have an election and that MAY translate to either a sympathy vote for the Liberals or such a scattering of voting that another minority of some sort is likely.

Don't know how I would vote, but it definitely won't (and never has been in the past) Liberal. I grew up in a family where Trudeau could have played the lead role in the Omen series and of course would have trouble voting for NDP. Layton is NOT an honest person, more self serving, but thats what makes a politician isn't it?

Show me a good politician, and maybe I might see new hope for this whole mess.
I won't support a Separtists from Alberta, not unless its for a whole West solution.

I'll add another nickle's worth late.

I can never understand how someone can stand up in the House of Commons and denounce the government, say they are corrupt, then cross the floor and join them.
The entire country's future hangs on two independent votes...Kilgour and Cadman. What a power trip they must be on.....
The whole thing is sickening, and just another example of what the Liberals will do to keep in power. The Conservatives have really had the rug pulled out from under them, and it would not surprise me to see more of them turncoat.

emerald: I believe you could be right about more turncoats, however I don't know if we should necessarily call them turncoats as they in reality are supporting what their eastern voters really want?
Eastern Canada does not want a leader who obviously is a westerner and supports things that might stop the gravy train?
When push comes to shove people will vote for what puts money in their pocket? The perception that Harper is somehow in bed with Klein, scares the hell out of the average Canadian?
Somehow your average Canadian voter has become convinced that a Stephen Harper or for that matter a Ralph Klein will destroy the whole nanny state, and why not? The eastern media has told them that for years? The actual facts are that Quebec has privatized health care more than Alberta ever dreamed of isn't considered.
So rather than risk the possibility that they might have to actually be responsible for their own life they put up with a total den of thieves and more and more control of their lives by a corrupt and evil power elite. Pretty sad?

It's the media who actually determines the government of the country. They show what they want to show and take things out of context to put those they don't like in a bad light. I've been a big fan of Stephen Harper's since he first came on the scene. I would have been happy to see him as leader of the Reform party when Stockwell Day was running for the job. His biggest problem is trying to get his message out without being vilified by the eastern media. It seems that if the leader of the party is not from the east, the easterners won't tolerate it. The last elected Prime Minister outside of Quebec was Joe Clarke and they didn't tolerate him for long. Before that it was Diefenbaker and that's well over 30 years ago. I never liked Belinda Stronach anyway. As much as she has some corporate experience, all she could talk about during the last election was her 'Economic Pie'. This morning on TV, her big word was 'partisan politics' and when the interviewer corrected her on the definition of the term, she just kept using it wrong anyway. If a man changed parties at such a critical time, I think his political career would be over. I would certainly question his sense of duty and honor in the next election. It will be interesting to see what the people of Aurora-New Market have to say about her scruples next time around.

Belinda is a power hungry turncoat, and certainly has likely sold Canada out to Martin and his crew. Even if the vote tomorrow goes in favor of the Conservatives, and an election is called, we pretty well can be sure of another minority government. How any woman with one lick of business sense can support the complete lack of fiscal restraint that Martin and his crew are exhibiting is beyond me.

Our Alberta MLA's certainly didn't have much good to say about Belinda. Now it will be up to Kilgour and Cadman, and who knows what goes on in Kilgours mind, he has crossed the floor and changed parties so many times he has a path worn in the carpet!

There is one aspect of this whole thing that needs to be remembered. That is that the dissatisfaction with the Liberals is as high in Quebec as it is here. One problem with that ... when given the chance to vote, the province will go almost totally Bloq.

So there we are again, back with what is probably a minority government. Whether Liberal or Conservative, it doesn't matter, because it will be separatists calling the shots. And call the shots they will.

Timing is everything, and I think the Conservatives are off with their timing right now. As slimy as the Liberals are, and as hard as it is to accept, what the Conservatives really need to do is get down to business and put themselves in a position to have a majority before they start knocking things apart.

I have to add a rant to this.....

Oh ya, and they won't win any votes by calling anyone a ***** or whatever other back alley garbage some of these guys have been spitting out the last two days. (I use the word 'guy' to substitute for something I'd rather call them...)

Unprofessional. Crude. Offensive and childish. If they think they captured the women's vote with this, they are sadly mistaken. Don't forget half the population is female.

This is not the way to win the hearts of voters. This is not the way to show people that they are worthy to be entrusted with the running of the country. Acting like a bunch of babies.....

                End of rant.

MLA Tony Abbott from AB. apologized on the news this evening for his comments, which I am sure will get him a good rap on the kuckles in the PC Caucus in AB.

Name calling doesnt' change things, callng Belinda a turncoat is the truth. I think it is up to the voters of Newmarket-Aurora to make the decision whenever the next election rolls around.

the best thing that could happen for Albertans is for the Bloc to win, have a Quebec referendum in the next couple of years and vote to leave confederation. I think all of that is highly possible and would open the door to Alberta making its own way too. Who in Alberta cannot be sick and tired of a central government that treats us like a colony?

I would hate to see our province try and go it alone. However, I do think that Confederation as it was supposed to be is not working, and unless there is a huge change in the federal government soon, the fires of western separation will flare up. I don't think for one minute that Martin and his crew see us as anything but a cash cow, but you can bet your boots he'll be front and centre here next week strutting around like a peacock during the Queen's visit.

Kato: I agree with your comments. The remarks made about Stronach would not have been said if she was male. The Martin government needs to look beyond this defeat to the next election and win over that portion of the electorate who mistrusted Martin and his people last time around.

Perhaps the most damaging aspect of the Stronach move to the Liberals was that the Conservatives lost a young moderate female business woman from Ontario. Now the image of the party becomes more hard line, red neck and dare I say it, uncaring. The actions of the Conservatives in the last few days does nothing to dispell that perception.

farmers_son, why in the world would you think that the loss of Belinda is damaging to the Conservative party.
I think she has been angling for this ever since she didn't get the leadership. She got elected under the Conservative banner, paid lip service to supporting all their concerns with the corruptness of the Liberals, but likely was looking for a way to climb the ladder all along. Peter MacKay did indicate that she had spoken to Martin several weeks ago.....
I don't call it a loss I call it good riddance !! Same as losing any fair weather friend !

Well, we will see this afternoon if Belinda damaged the Conservatives ill advised drive to force an election in June.

I think there is no doubt that Stronach's move damaged the Conservatives big time. The voters will remember the sexist comments made, the way that Harper was out maneuvered by the Liberal team. The Conservatives had an image problem before, it has gotten worse. Harper has handled a lot of things badly and failed his first real test as Opposition Leader.

A lot of female voters will remember what was said whether the election is this June or next December.
