How ironic, the voters will remember sexist comments of backbench MPs and MLAs in Provincial governments he's not even responsible for. And then they'll very conveniently forget Billions of misplaced and stolen taxpayers money.
Have we ever got our collective priorities messed up. Is there any hope for this country? This is not the way I remember how this country used to be run. Cabinet ministers used to resign over what we would today probably consider trivial matters that happened under their watch. Now, you just have an inquiry, and then talk about how you're doing something about the problem, all the while counting on the public to lose interest long before the inquiry ever concludes. Paul Martin was the finance minister and he knew nothing about billions of mispent tax dollars?!?! No resignation, no shame, no honor. Canada is quickly becoming a banana republic. Whens the next coup?, maybe its a good thing we've gutted the military.

The female voters that I know are disgusted with Belinda, they feel as I do that if she wanted to cross the floor she could have done it a month ago vs on the eve of today's vote.
Women that I know that keep in touch with politics are as fed up as I am with corruption and turncoat politicians.

Billions FARMRANGER?? The gun resitry is almost 2 billion, but we are aware of it. The scandal was approximately $170 million. I am not defending anybody, but just don't like to see things get over exhagerated, as most things do in politics. One bad policy move can cost way more than $170 million. The problem is the ethics and corruption of those involved.
I am sick of everything that is going on in Ottawa, but I do not want another election to vote in another minority!! They are wasting our money right now as nothing gets done in Ottawa, yet they still all collect their paychecks, while the country sits completely idle.

A snap election will just bring more of the same. These people in Ottawa, need to grow up, and put the country first!! We need to see what these people are made of, so we can have some real information to base our next vote on! I can't say there is anyone in Ottawa I want to vote for at the moment. There may never be though, but we need someone who can show some promise.

Amen to that Cattleman. The most important thing that every politician everywhere can do is put the people first. That is why I feel that the most honest form of government in municipal, they are non partisan and are closest to the people.

Thanks Cattleman, I think I need an editor. I should have said 170 million stolen, and billions mispent perhaps. If you remember, there was something like 2 billion unaccounted for in the HRDC scandal that could be included in that billions figure. That could have been partially stolen as well, maybe we'll never know since there was never a proper accounting for that money.

I am thinking that running around Canada buying votes like a kid with a fist full of money in a candy store, (with taxpayers money) is misspending as well. Thanks for straightening me out though, all that money was not proven to be not stolen, but it would sure be nice to know where it did go.

Watching to what depths the Librano's will go to, to hold the office tells me they are desperate to hold on to some grip of the agenda and the inquiry. They don't want an election!!

Having watched Stephen Harper since 87, where I heard him speak at the first reform convention and seeing him succeed when others where writing him off.

And knowing, that I don't know, what election strategy and game plans he may have for an election...I would have to defer to his better judgment. If he wanted to go now lets get on with it. If he can't beat them now, he's not likly to beat them later!

I personally doubt if Martin will call an election after the Gomery inquiry, he will find some way to weasel out of it.
Listening to Layton last night on the news it appears that once the budget is past his sweetheart deal with Martin is over, so who knows what will happen next. I think the majority of Canadians didn't want an election. Conservatives are going to have to play their cards right and take advantage of the extra time to build support. Cadman said he only supported the government to get the budget passed to get money out to urban centres for infrastructure, help for homeless etc.
It will take months and months before any of these dollars start to flow if and when the budget receives third reading. In the mean time at least we get 10 days respite from the gong show in Ottawa, of course we will have to watch Martin following the Queen like a sick puppy for her Alberta visit next week.

I suspect after the Gomery inquiry is done Martin will throw a few low levels in jail for a few days and declare Canada corruption free! All the big wheels will be found innocent...especially good old Paul!
It is very evident that the urban Ontario voter couldn't really give a rip about the corruption and theft? They are more concerned with keeping the status quo alive and well!
By next January Martin will be ahead in the polls and will take the country into an election where it is very possible he will win a majority! The west will vote solid Conservative and probably Quebec will go solid BLOC.
A few more western Canadians will wake up to the fact that we will never win at this game, but a lot won't?

I think your analysis is pretty close to the mark. Other than the perception that the west will vote solid Conservative. If you include B.C. presently 13 of 36 seats are held by non Conservative MPs. Dissatifaction with the Liberals might well translate into more ND seats.

Manitoba voted along the much same lines as B.C. in the last election with 3 of the 14 seats going Liberal and 4 going ND.

Quebecois vote strategically, not with their hearts. They certainly will not want to see the Conservatives get into power and I would expect at least some Liberals will be elected in Quebec.

Agreed farmers_son, Quebecois certainly don't let party loyalty cloud their thinking. And I agree that having Harper in office if they vote to separate won't get them any huge plums. I think he wouldn't give away the farm to placate them. I can't think of a worse scenario for the rest of us than having a Quebec Prime Minister negotiating the terms of separation on behalf of Canada.

Hopefully it never comes to that, but if they perceive the rest of the country as condoning corruption(by re-electing the Liberals), then who knows?
