There are a lot of areas that have been hard hit and I hope that it doesn't take them long to recover. Glad to hear you got home through Sundre emrald, Bearberry is supposed to be just awful.

I was also told that they let some of the water out of the *****on dam today to try and alleviate some of what will be coming. It is still coming down pretty good here - we're now up to almost 4.5 inches since yesterday afternoon.

I wonder if we're getting it all now and will see some of July and August relatively dry, which has happened in a good number of years around here.

Still, it is good to know that recharging of groundwater will be taking place and surface areas that have been dry or nearly dry will now be recharged as well.

Praise that sandhill of mine, all the cows have stayed right there for the last two days, she's sure wet down in the low land.

Black? who said anything about black? I haven't got a black cow on the place! Maybe I'm just out of fashion - or maybe I'm one of the pioneers of the next fashion - red cattle.

There was 4.5 inches in total and now the sun is shining. A brand new day after all that rain. Our fish pond is higher than it has been in years and the seasonal creek is running.

We were without power for a few hours this morning as the poles that were beside the Red Deer River were no longer there. At least we got power back in less than 12 hours. I'm sure there are going to be some that don't get power for a while.

The stress from all of this will likely not be felt for weeks. I hope that those that are hardest hit are able to get their lives back together again before too long.

We just got hit tonight...real wild weather with wind and severe thunderstorms. 1.5 inches in 1 hour. A few miles away got 2.5 inches in the same time. After 3 good hot days, everything is soaked again.

Its a scary time for a lot of folks. Spoke to a fellow from Cochrane last evening and he said things weren't too bad where his place was located, just a few cattle marooned but they had lots of grass and the water was receding .
Hopefully the province realizes that the $55 million will have to increase significantly, plus millions more to rebuild infrastructure that is either damaged or gone.

I think we got close to three inches and it was just about the perfect amount. Apparently the western portion of Red Deer county got whacked a bit and some roads were washed out. It must be pretty discouraging to get flooded out after the years of drought we have been experiencing? One thing about Alberta...if you don't like the weather just wait ten minutes!

Here in the North Peace we picked up maybe a couple tenths in the last week. Just enough to keep the crops looking good. Lots of grasshoppers & fleabeatles and a couple cool nights with the temperature getting down to 2 & 3 C Looking pretty good compared to last year.
