I watched a program on TV to night about beef Inc. it was called. It would seem that a lot of the beef producers in the USA are well aware on want Cargill, IBP, Lakeside are up to.
I enjoyed the program very much and I now have a better undersanding on what you all were talking about. I was astonished when they said that Cargill is the main player in all aspects of marketing from seed for grains, to owning 150 thousand head of feeder cattle in just one feed lot, and it told how they just kill their own to set the market. All in All I thought it was a very good program in helping to ed. any one that was not really aware of want is going on and better understanding for me in seeing that I really don't even count at the moment but just wait some day. Cargill may have 150 thousand in the feed lots, but it didn't say that they have a cow herd to produce their feed lot cattle. So I guess if all the cows disappear the feed lot cattle will also disappear, but not in my time, but some day.
They more or less said the Cargill had control of the food supply all around the world and that was a very dangerous thing.

I was flipping through chanels and found that program as well. It was very interesting. I don't know how long ago it was filmed but the information is certainly timely.

The more critical aspect is the consolidation of the global food distributors. There are 5 main players, none of which are North American - at least to my knowledge. The 5 originate in the EU and Japan. Producing and processing are one thing - distributing is a whole new kettle of fish.
