cswilson, if it's ok to call you that, sir, my thought on your ET replacement plan, is I'd do it if I had the money. I am fanatical about genetics and trait selection, and mating the best cows to the best bulls to produce a calf as close to perfect as possible, is what cranks me up. I make a long list of cows to breed to our best bull - an rkaiser prodigy - then I rate every cow on the list, and cull that list 3-4 times until I'm confident that it's a recipe for perfect replacements. Then I do the same with the next best bull.

'Course, then I have to figure out how we're going to pasture them separately.lol

But I definitely like your plan. A 15 year old never miss cow is a true treasure in any herd - purebred or not. And consistency can only go so far with conventional thinking. Taking it a step or two further like you're doing will improve your consistency greatly IMO, and linebreeding those heifers to a half OR full brother would maybe work even better. Some do it with great results.
