I have had my cattle farmed out under a couple of scenarios.
I paid $2.00 per day for feed and $30.00 each for calving at one place and I provided the feed and paid $25.00 for calving at the second.
This was in the winters of 2002 and 2003 so feed was higher then.
I was responsible in both cases for all veterinary costs etc.

I think Randy said he was paying $1.50 a day per cow this year. I suspect that is probably pretty general?
While at first I though he was being fairly loose with his money, I later questioned that idea?
He later told me he was taking up ogling the girls at the gym as a way to keep the old figure up, so don't know if that is a good thing or not? LOL

Just because I moved a few machines around for more effective use of space at the gym cowman DOES NOT mean that I was trying to get a better view.
Yes we are paying $1.50 a day and I am totally satified with the way my cows look.
With the kind of winter we are having and the type of cows I sent this fellow, he will likely be going to the gym in Hawaii from his profits.

Well I would say that $400/year is a pretty good deal? I think you have a winner there!
In a normal year a $1/day isn't at all out of line for winter feed(let alone feeding costs). Around here summer pasture is definitely in that $1/day range.
You have a very good deal.

Where I have my cows we are trying to work a deal to get close to that 400/yr.
Right now I am at about $430-450, for year round feeding/pasture and calving.
