    slaughter capacity?

In the Western Producer, under the livestock report, they state that only 70% of slaughter capacity is being utilized in Canada?
Now I wonder how in the world all these plants are going to be able to stay in business, when the new plants come on line? I believe the Sunterra plant just north of Calgary should be up and running soon? Don't know how close the others are?
I also believe there are a lot of "extra costs" added on to cattle going south, due to American "food safety concerns"...read that as phony tariff barriers? Especially on heifers? If these restrictions come off, what then?
Now when the cow trade finally gets the green light(if ever!) to the States...how low might the slaughter capacity go in this country?
Something didn't work here? We were supposed to be building a slaughter industry...what happened?

Probably costs about $100 a liter to produce, but hey you have to start somewhere!
Some pretty exciting things going on in alternative energy though...some of it almost feasible!
Red Deer County, in central Alberta, is getting close to building at least one bio digestor that will turn manure, packing house waste, municipal green waste into natural gas. Meeting on March 16th to set up the business plan.
