    Car Insurance

Hello Agri-friends, Can you tell me the procedure for getting my car back from Calgery to Saskatchewan? I bought it and registered it in Saskatchewan as I am going to be living there, but parked it in Alberta on a farm close to the airport. The insurance expired at the end of December and I am wondering, can you insure a vehicle over the phone so I can drive it back? Sorry I am being so vague, but with being from the UK everything is different .

    thak you Roland

I do it all the time.... you usually need to have a fax number so they can send you a temporary pink slip. They might even be able to do it by e-mail and then all you need do is print it off.

Contact your insurance company and make sure they know you are a resident in Sask. and a farmer, because you will qualify for farm rates on your insurance.
You should be able to get a pink card and then all you need is a copy of it and your vehicle registration with you in the vehicle and away you go.

Nice to hear from you again roly, and Happy Easter.

I assume you are proposing doing this from out of the country Roly? I suppose they would still fax you the pink slip. These small things are a pain to learn when you come from another country. One difference here is there is no MOT - that's quite a change from the UK. Hence people drive about in vehicles with holes in the wings etc.

Now roly, I'm not real sure if this is still in effect, but you used to be able to get a certificate to drive a vehicle to a destination without licensing it or insuring it. I think it cost twenty bucks and was good for 14 days?
I know I did this about five years ago with an old truck I bought at an auction about 70 miles from home. You might want to contact the RCMP or the licensing shops.
