Preventive Testing of Heads

I hear a lot of different sides regarding CFIA sampling of brain tissue. People say the vet makes too much money from that. I disagree, there is a lot of travel cost, and it doesn't stop there. Almost any vet I know is conscientious within the National (Canada) program.

The only way Canada (yep, we're part of Canada) is gonna convince anybody of worthiness is through assurances. These aren't that hard. In the US, some fight against RFID. Have they lost their mind?? Their grandfathers would have jumped at the chance.

Any agree'ers or disagree'ers?

I wont agree or disagre but I do know that the cost is going to be charged against farm programs and the vets are getting more than the farmers I dont know how much the labs are getting.

I don't begrudge the vet making a buck. Hey if they didn't have that income a lot of them would be gone? It's hard enough trying to keep these young men and women in a large animal practice.
A large animal vet has a dirty job. He should be able to make a good living?

Part of my job is filling in those forms that go with the testing, as well as preparing the samples. The forms aren't just one liners either! There are three detailed forms with each sample, which also includes a chunk of ear for potential dna testing. It's a dirty little job, that's for sure, and not one I like doing.

What do manitoba ranchers get paid for each head they get tested? I heard it was $75 but wasnt sure.
