As in every part of a free economy there is a buyer and a seller? Don't know if we should put restrictions on who can buy or sell? Maybe we could create a landed gentry of ornery old buggers from Barrhead? No one else could buy or sell land?
On the subsidies: Maybe the government should just say to hell with all you farmers and pay no subsidies? Should finish off all the young guys real fast and then me and Horse could own everything!

WHOA boys !!! Now Horse, maybe I get my directions mixed up but anytime I have been to Fort Assiniboine, Goose Lake was south of there,north of the thriving hamlet of Blue Ridge, not north. Mind you I haven't been up there for almost a year, so maybe you got so mad at the grazing lease folks you moved the entire community !!!!!!

Nope. I like Alberta, oil or no oil! And I have no desire to leave it.
I do like Montana and the people there. One of the guys I took AI with ranchs near Bozeman and we keep in touch...and yep, he belongs to R-CALF! If I lived in the USA I think I would belong to R-CALF! Now I think they've done some dumb things, but bottom line they stand up for the US cow/calf producer...which is more than we can say for the ABP or CCA?
Of course I believe the Canadian farmer is getting a raw deal! The government has basically abandoned him to the wolves! Do you honestly think, at my age, that I am so greedy I want to see the young farmers dissappear? My days of buying land and expanding are long over, but I sure hope my son and family can continue on.
