Interesting that the only 'assault' on my son, the ref, was from a granny in the stands at a peewee hockey game. She threw a water bottle at him and hit him on the helmet for putting her grandbaby in the penalty box. He was going to have her ejected from the arena until he got a look at her, she was in her 80's !!!

She'd of got tossed for more than that game in our rink-our minor hockey association has a zero tolerance for abuse of officials. It's amazing how people behave when you draw the line.it's hard to teach players composure when adults are having tantrums.

agreed. I have heard of several young hockey players that have chosen not to remain in organized hockey because their parents embarassed them at games ! Pretty sad. Mind you, I have seen parents and the odd grandparent throwing tantrums at 4-H shows because they either didn't like a decision the judge made or the way the show was run.
Kids should play sports to enjoy themselves and get excercise, should be in 4-H to learn and give back to their community through various projects, not to be pressured into winning every single game or show.

Try a rider cage we used them in the feedlots i have worked in including a large bull test at strathmore. Simply weld a cage out of drill stem make the outside panels 8 ft long and 6 ft. high make two of these then weld together like a box make it about 3 ft. wide. then wend some sucker rod to the sides and top make the spacing so they cant get stuck, grind off sharp points so they can't rub off the hair. the bars on top won't allow the other bulls to mount and the side bars won't let the other bulls to work him over. Usally the sweetass will hide in it when the riding starts and it is tough for the other bulls to get at him. As for why they ride, it is usally is a dominance issuse he is low on the pecking order but he could also he smaller or weaker. He may be a good breeding bull just not the most agressive. He will sneak into feed and sleep with the other bulls, but if they hassle him he has a place to hide . I have found it to be much more effective than pulling the bull out. But if they won't leave him alone that is the other option. I hope this helps you out.
