Quiet?

Man, it's quiet around here these days - it seems a reflection on the beef industry as a whole at the moment - everyone has just given up and walked away. It's a far cry from the indignation expressed when Agriville was rumored to be closing it's doors (a year ago?)
Is there nothing that needs discussed?

In my area a lot of the people with the most to say have quit the industry and the rest of us stubborn folks are burned out or too busy with our off the farm jobs to have the extra time.

There is still a lot to discuss and what we all desperately need is some optimism.

There is plenty to discuss but also lots to be learned by listening. Certainly the discussion between Gf and F-s has been enlightening. Every discussion about the beef industry gets a little polarized. We could discuss our bse status and whether it will remain the same given a new case. The buy in and success or failure of the Canada Gold program or others like Diamond Willow. The concentration of not only packers but major retailers and how the dogs tail is wagged by them and where can we fit in profitably. Then there are production things like why people do what they do. (silage, hay, grain, bunches, swath grazing, etc.)

The bottom line Gf is that we should discuss these things and maybe each of us can glean some insight and optimism from each other.

I am not ready for retirement and have made a decent living as a farmer and rancher. We might need to figure out how to push on the cows tail.
