Is the bull finished his career?

I've got a yearling bull who mounted a cow and came back down when another cow knocked him off from the side. He started walking, but can't seem to balance his back end, and his feet go cross legged. Has the bull broken his stifles? He is a pretty post legged bull and I've heard their prone to break their stifles with not much effort. I've got the bull in the barn and he can't seem to lift his back legs up to get up. Also, should I butcher him, or ship him if he can walk half decently? If he heals up, should I ship him or keep him around for breeding?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Sounds like his career as a breeder is done. Most likely, there is nerve damage to the spinal cord. This is not good news. If he is not able to get up his chances of ever breeding again are very limited. You had best look and see how much hamburger you ave in the deep freeze and replenish it. This is not good news for dollars outlayed for this animal, salvage may be the only anwser.

I was kinda hoping that it would be just a pinched nerve and not any nerve damage. The bull is eating, drinking, and shifting his weight around on the floor, but he just can't bring those legs of his from under himself up. Both back legs are lying straight forward and he can't seem to bring them back. My dad tried to use a rope and pulley system to lift his back end. Got it a little ways off the ground but didn't have enough strength to pull it the rest of the way.

Don't have to worry about that bull any longer, it died on Tuesday afternoon. I think it's kidneys and other major organs shut down because he couldn't get mobile and walk around. Anyway, thanks for everyones help and concern over this matter.
