Talk about flogging a dead horse - if every farmer in Canada voted against the Conservatives it probably wouldn't alter the politician in a single seat either provincially or federally we just do not have numbers on our side. Besides as Sean rightly said the power nowadays is held by the beaurocrats not the politicians and they very often don't change between regimes.

I agree Canadian society would be better off if voters smartened up and started using their votes more productively but that has absolutely nothing to do with resolving the crisis in the cattle sector.

This looks to be another farmers_son diversionary tactic to take the heat off his beloved ABP/CCA and cover up for the fact they are supporters of the status quo because they have no ideas, no clue and no solutions(but they are still determined to hang on to their paychecks)

Just to add to the doom and gloom. Rancher's Meats at Spruce Grove has been sold and will probably be a 67,000 sq ft storage shed...1000 producers will have lost their investment...all the equipment will be sold for probably pennies on the dollar and another chapter in producer owned packing plant initiatives will have ended.
GF..I certainly agree with your statement"Packer ownership, captive supply and alternate packing capacity are all crucial items that need to be tackled if the situation for producers is to improve."
It's a huge problem and probably the most critical. There is a growing support for change and people like you GF and Perfecho will have to get involved to make that change.
