    White Thanks-Giving/Brown Christmas!

This was the conversation yesterday at a family gathering. What if we had a white thanksgiving and a brown Christmas. Its possible the temp would have to really heat up to get rid of this white crap but possible. 30 plus 10 days ago was unheard of. Yesterday baseball game canceled in Denver and why, It was snowed out. The USA is getting crappy weather all sorts of pictures of snow on the crop that's two to three weeks behind and this isn't going to cut back on the huge us crop. Ideas for harvesting Canola in the Snow would be nice to hear. Others experience and Results.

As they say, never say never. Few years back it piddled around like this and we had a third to half our grain out. Finally had a window towards end of october. We started combining farthest from home with the idea that WHEN it snowed under, we'd swath graze the rest. Nov 14 we combined 100bu acre DRY oats on the home quarter, no swath grazing. Done. We've yet to leave anything in the field, but this could be the year. It's only the first half of October, not worried yet.

I beleive it was the fall of /02 and our corner of the world got caught with our canola out. we started combining with snow in the swath and as november rolled along there got to be less and less snow to the point where canola was almost dry at the end of the month. My 1480 would ice up the seives if it wasn't -8 C or colder. neighbors 9600 could run a little warmer. Got it done!

Yup, the key is cold, very cold with snow on swaths. -10 is good.
