This should be an interesting conversation.

And this guarantees western farmers a premium - HOW?????

The cwb is currently selling wheat at below pro prices and not at any premium to the MGE so what does this expenditure do? Other than duplicate services and the staff works for free?

Hmm... a wheat board initiative that will supposedly save farmers money by increasing the size of the CWB bureaucracy. Oh yeah, that's going to work.

This is kinda funny. One government organization (CWB) opens a seed testing and quality control facility in the same city another federal organization (CGC)has a seed testing and quality control facility. All paid by grower. Talk about ignoring efficiencies. At least they are both in innovation place as they can car pool to the airport to fly to the Winnipeg offices. The real stupid part is that SGS will still get a bunch of the business as a private non union entity that will actually get the work done.

I was in Calgary and I don't remember anything about a testing lab being set up. Besides, my spider senses are tingling on this one. I just don't think you set up a testing lab inside of one year especially with the cwb working on it. They can't money to farmers or sell their grain within a year and a half time period. Corporate approvals would take longer than that. I think this one was in the works long, long before the calgary meeting.imho. Thrown in on a survey out of 100 farmers and bang - every farmer wants a testing lab. This is another stinking expenditure.
