You have to Order your seed by end of Week!!!

Received two calls yesterday one from pioneer saying their program ends Friday and I have to make a decision on seed purchases for 2010. Then Cargill phoned and have to order my specialty canola seed or the area will have to transfer it out to SW Sask. To both I replied If the Canola area of Sask has crop out and you feel that the SW is going to supply you with Canola for 2010. Then by all means give them the seed and short the canola growing area. Come on genius with these companies do you not get it their are thousands of acres of crop in the field and farmers don't need to be bugged that a seed program is ending. Get it strait without us their is no you.

Even with the seed delivery sign up bonus Pioneers current price for delivered canola is below the next competitors price both spot and future delivery. If somebody wants me to buy canola now they can come up with a program to take tough or damp canola. 13.8 moisture yesterday at 4pm just out of Regina

Its like the marketing genius at these companies are oblivious to the fact that their is a huge amount of crop out in the field. Just do as they always do. SELL SELL SELL>

They are both pushing like retards here as well, they have had a new deadline every week, and all they are doing is making farmers mad. Pioneer Hi- Bred program is Dec 11th - with better pricing. Keeping your canola options open for 2010 will pay dividends on it's own in the open market. Again no need to book seed until at least Nov. There is no shortage of seed.

It's not even Halloween yet! Are all the plot summaries out yet?

Pretty soon they are going to expect us to do a 5 year order. We have told them there will be no orders made until December at the earliest.

Well its nice to see its not just me these idiots are bugging. Really getting pst at companies that don't get a simple fact farmers have huge amounts of crop to harvest and the clock is ticking toward midnight. God some one is going to get punched one time.

They are trying to lock up canola supplies for next year by pushing seed with delivery bonus.

We all know that agstar, but still no need to be bugging farmers until at least mid Nov. this year. Agstar here is the problem, they are in the yard or on the phone every second day, it's puckin annoying!! This is no different than their fert guys who were out in Sept pushing fert, saying that it is going up this comming Friday by $50/tn - well the price never moved and there is still lots of supply - It will be the same story with canola seed.

Ag star its not that we dont get what the heck their trying to do but get the hell out of my yard and nieghbors when we all have crop out. In our area it doesnt matter if you have a section or 30 sections your only at 1/2 left to go. Its respect, good your done but most have crop out.

My point is the robots are being sent out by head office . Head office is really worried about filling their crushing plants . Don't shoot the messenger, they are just looking after their jobs. I agree it is crass to be bugging us about seed this early.

You're right about the orders coming out of head office. Two companies I deal with here were out in Sept to the combines. One brought us pop and donuts. Both just took a few minutes to visit and were quite apologetic about being there to get us thinking of canola seed. Sept. Same with fert, they were phoning in July. Come on already.

Your right about head office pushing these little robots out and about. I almost feel sorry for the verbal bassing some of these guys are getting - maybe make a call to the manager and tell him to pass the word on. Their crushing plants will be filled one way or the other. You would think that "head office" would realise that you can take a horse to water but you can't make him drink. Look at what POT has done to itself. At the end of the day I hope this early buy B/S ends up at Dec 31st like it used to and should be. Much better for on farm money/tax management
