Same here for corn and been seeds, Pioneer's been running almost constant radio ads for the last month. NO ONE here pays any attention to radio ads when buying seed, particularly when bean harvest just started and corn will be close to Christmas. Sooooo if Pioneer is making so much profit they can afford to waste $$ on radio ads, they can get their business somewhere else. Particularly when the smaller companies around here are offering seed as good for 10-15% less and not being pushy about it.

I know i will be blasted for working for one of the companies, but here is my read.

Most of this seed has to be cleaned and treated, inspected, etc. They are trying to get you to commit as early as possible so they can make those plans in a timely manner. Less treating facilties and less companies means more pressure on these assets. Of course they are all trying to lock up the business, but they should have some brains about it.

BUT... farmers have designed this system as many look for the last possible nickel less of fertilizer and the last possible 1/4 penny on grain. It will get worse not better. It is called FARMING THE FARMER. Push out all independents, buy them up and own agriculture from herbicides to fert seed to grain. Independent terminals are next on the list. If you won't sell cheap enough here, they will just buy it from Australia and vice versa.

Dave as you know, all those plans can still be made with deadlines in Nov.- Dec. Farmers still have the power here, they need your money not the other way around. I personaly feel tell Cargil, JRI, and or Viagra to go to hell if you are not ready to buy wether finacialy or mentaly. Go see your independent in Nov or Dec, they will be glad to see you anytime and make a good deal I'm sure.
The highest yeilding Liberty, R/R and Clearfeild are available and will be without tieing up your hands with a line company until the end of Dec at prices no different than today. JMO
