    PROTEC seed coating

I was looking into using some PROTEC this spring.
Does anybody have any experience good, bad indifferent.

I am thinking it will help improve seed treatment rates.
    Inoculant rates with peat.
Will help with timing as far as just load from bin and go, We can also use the conveyor and speed things up with less cracking.
We would also get about 70 more acres a fill as we don't have to tie up the extra tank with granular.
A little less expensive than granular inoculant.
The downsides I can see possibly are
    a) It doesn't work.
    b) The seed treatment(apron) kills the inoculant (tag team).
    c) You can't have any leftover seed.

Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.

Are you using straight Apron on lentils? Apron is very targeted to only pythium so will have little activity on Provide/Jumpstart and zero affect on bacterial inoc.

My 2nd question is that pythium (the only thing Apron controls) is a non issue on lentils and i would not bother to use it. would be interested more in V280 or APronMax (really same control level for the 2 products) or 1/2 rate of Crown (really cheap last i heard and you get true ascochyta control)

I was really suspect of this technology (Protec)for along time and had some involvement in early research in this area, but seems most companies are resonably ok with its use and their inoculants. The polymer is just sugar that allows the bacteria to feed and live. We have decided to use it this year after watching the thing for 10 or so years. I do not buy any yield results above a good timely seed applied result, but simplicity is the name of the game.
