    Pass the paper potatoes, please!

I thought certain trees were made to be cut and turned into paper. Turns out the EU regulators also dig them.

The gist of this article is that if the individual EU countries do not want your GM product, they will find a way to stop them. This regardless of the EU health and consumer policy commission's approval.

Austria - we will issue, immediately, a ban on cultivation of the GM.

Italy - we will not allow the questioning of member states' sovereignty on the matter. For our part, we will continue to defend and safeguard traditional agriculture and citizens' health.

It is for this reason that talk, or speculation on what model Canada should follow on GM approval is a useless exercise. We are not the ones consuming the surplus.
