    Best Whisky On The Planet

St. Patrick's Day today. Quizz question. Is it just me, or is Irish Whiskey, the best whiskey on the planet? Guiness beer is pretty good too! Any opinions our there in the farming world?

Do you think we should have options?

      Burbert,

Thanks for bringing up CHOICE. This is the basic human right that allows humanity to be civilized... the choice to decide what is appropriate for our family and community.

      NOT like being a slave.

"Little is known of Patrick's early life, though it is known that he was born in Roman Britain in the fifth century, into a wealthy Romano-British family. His father and grandfather were deacons in the Church. At the age of sixteen, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken captive to Ireland as a slave.[1] It is believed he was held somewhere on the west coast of Ireland, possibly Mayo, but the exact location is unknown. According to his Confession, he was told by God in a dream to flee from captivity to the coast, where he would board a ship and return to Britain. Upon returning, he quickly joined the Church in Auxerre in Gaul and studied to be a priest."

I prefer the best Spirit of all... the Holy Spirit!

I would say Scotch Whiskey would be a better choice than Irish, but maybe I will try a bottle tonight to compare.

Hey silver, I think you're onto something. I think I'll do an objective (as objective as possible) taste test tonight too!

Unfortunately (for me and perhaps those rooting for the Irish) my collection of Scotch whisky for this exercise is much more extensive than my selection of the Irish kind; a reflection of the selection available in the liquor store. That handicap could prove a bit difficult to overcome, but to be fair I’ll take that into account.

I might even report the results tomorrow, if they’re not too shrouded in the mist! Be fun to do a poll! Anyone else up for it??

And there’ll be no blarney! I promise, so long as everyone else does too. (But then how would I know?)

Ah well, may the best spirit win - whisky or whiskey!

Whiskey in Kanada, is totally controlled by the government, open market does NOT exist. You have a choice, but must by your choice from the Government liquor board in each Province! I guess that's choice, although tax take sets price and if'n ya wants it ya pays full price.....

I think your musings are slurred. Stop replying until you sober up!

Also, hope your choice is corn based. You need to use that corn up, so my barley will be worth something.

I must admit I am rather fond of Jamesons Irish whisky just having a glass as night cap. Some Scotch wiskies are quite nice too but not the peaty ones in my opinion.
Done the whisky trail in Scotland and the taste is all about the local water and the barrels it is aged in. Cheers!

Well Burbert I believe our government run liquor stores in saskatchewan suck. In my local store anyway if they would offer taste tests of some of the new crap they try unloading on you for outrageous prices they would not sell any of it. Too bad:-((((

I will look into the irish vs scotch whiskey in the near future.
