    Runoff

Well we finally got to 10 degrees here today and the water started running finally. Didn't think there would be much runoff, but dugouts are filled, and I'm pleasantly surprised. About 10 days early though, and won't last long. This is the earliest I remember having virtually no field snow cover left at this date. global warming. LOL

It does get a guy kinda excited to yank out the drill. Too bad oats are so valuable right now.

It's been running for a few days here in Davidson now. I spent a great evening with the kids, playing hydraulic engineer and encouraging a little erosion.
    Good times!

Man something about running water gets a guy feeling young, eh? My little ones were loving it too and I sure remember being young and the creeks running geese and crows returning etc...

Dugouts filled - that's a plus. Rigs pay good money for access to H2O.

Bad oats - not so much, but you'll make up for it on the volumn. Right? That's what the experts (as a certain Father in the 70's) said. X, an unknown mathematical number, and spurts, drips under pressure. Sounds like the perfect definition of a 2010 oat grower!

No water anywere to be seen, 99% of potholes / sloughs have no water.

Zero runoff here, even the snowbanks at the edge of the field are gone. Makes me a little nervous.

SW Manitoba, had more snow then we've had in years. I was expecting some major runoff but surprisingly its really been soaking in.
Still lots of snow in the shade but the open fields are essentially bare.

Dugouts are full, potholes everywhere. Some snow in shaded areas. Wow 7C today, the warmest so far. There were no big snow banks in fence lines for once. Soil is saturated but expect it to dry fast when frost goes down. Top few inches had freeze dried in Dec-Jan.
