    hail end vs straight hail

What are your opinions here? Does anyone pay the extra dollars and go for a straight hail policy rather than take the hail endorsement? I've always just looked at my crop ins as part of my hail ins coverage because thats all we ever used it for. Now last year was a different story with the drought, and for us, this year is looking the same.

Hail endorsement works well when you have less than 50% damage. You still are above coverage and you get something for your damage. If you get wiped out then Hail endorsement sucks because you paid more premium for the same payout. After being severely dameage by hail in 2008 and 2009 we have become experts. Right now we are considering 60% coverage with hail end and $50 an acre straight hail vs. 80% coverage with $50 straight hail coverage. This way we get paid if we have a little damage and paid more if we get wiped out. Most of the fields that got hit were of the wipeout variety.
