    Cargil attitude!!!!!

Get this, local FMR states that Cargil pencil pushers are mad as hell that one of their big customers decided to grow alot of lentils?
So this farmer looks at his spread sheet in Jan and sees red ink flowing on cereals, and decides to grow lentils at a contracted price that should give him a good posivtve return. Why are they mad? b/c not one of those tns produced will touch their elevator. They are pissed that this guy is trying to pencil in a profit on his opperation and not serve their shit hole on every acre.
We stay as far as we can from this b/s of locking in contracts though a specific line company let alone everything - and this is the reason why - they want absolute control from seed, fert, chem, tns delivered and when. JRI and Viagra are absolutely no different. stay as indenpendent as you possibly can otherwise they will cost you money. I have seen it happen to so many farmers that get that speacial deal from their buddy at Viagra or Cargil on seed if they buy their inputs and promise delivery. Wake up some of you!
End rant - sun is out and it finaly feels like spring.

I agree one hundred percent. They all would love to have you from cradle to grave. And in farming one screw up and your in the grave.
    Good for the guy.

Precisely the reason our farm is not producing commodities anymore and almost all inputs being purchased at Coop.Better get used to this bullshit. It's only gonna get worse..

well that's the method they use now that farmers wised-up to the 90 day contracts. I can't tell you how frustrating it was to go to the coffee shop and hear all the farmers talk about hauling their canola and puting it on 90 day contracts. actually getting roped into those "cradle to grave contracts" (SF3 term, which is a good expression) might even be worst than the 90 day contracts.

Hey if they want to complain about losing handle to special crops they should stop looking at your neighbor and look at the CWB. The CWB is the main reason why farmers put pulse crops in whenever they can.

I got tired going for coffee in the morning. All the whining and bragging that went on, it wasn't difficult to figure our who was BSing. On the odd occasion something good was accomplished, but some of the fellows go into a real mess because their hearing aids were weak.

There is nothing stopping them from getting into that Market. Cargill loves the CWB, all they want to buy is Board Grains because of the good margins. Canola they are in the game sometimes and milling Oats at times. Most other commodities they wont take a second look at. There are a few grain handlers out there including some large independants that are going to find the same issues going forward when Wheat is a "special Crop" in Canada.

Couldn't agree more. I apologize in
advance to those who will scream at me for
this self-serving post, but I cannot
resist. We're 100% independent for exactly
                    these reasons.
