Wild Oat Herbicide Price Drop Coming!

Watch out boys the open up US Door is causing a little problem for the overpriced chemical market in Canada. Sorry but when one goes south to bring in US Pursuit or Assure or Horizon product the market in Canada is finally realizing farmers can vote with their feet and wallets and win.
Pursuit dropped from 1080 yesterday to 700. Hm Still not US price but hey.
Then Assure is below 190 now, Hm and Finally all the companies are scrambling with Wild Oat chemical for HRS and Durum. Boys they were trying to get us to pay 19 or more an acre for WO control in Wheat. In comes a lower priced product (how much try 10.75) and Bam watch the fire works.
Had phone call yesterday even from Bayer rep wondering if our three big boys were coming back. Gave him till Friday.
But what really pst me off about all this a year or two ago their were some generics brought on to the Canadian market. Funny they were priced just pennies an acre cheaper. Hm So your generic Kraft dinner and Kraft dinner same price. You'll pick Kraft dinner. Also when wheat is less than three a bushel how the hell do they expect us to spray a 20 dollar an acre chemical on to make it clean. Oh yea their basing there price on US subsidized system of 6 a bushel not the three and cant get rid of we have. See in Canada its every one else first gets a slice and then the farmer is last, Sorry that's how all programs etc work here. Parasites first then crumbs for farmer. In Canada we have to make the Line companies and Independents rich so they even have gotten so bold to start farming along side us with their companies getting dealer cost chemical and fertilizers for these farms that compete against their own buyers (US farmers). (Viagra and One Earth etc etc). US and France at least the farmer comes first then its a trickle down to the rest.
So watch out the next month could be interesting.

I am hoping for a wild oat product price war too. I say the new FNA product, neighbor booked some at 10.50. Have not seen any others at that level yet but hopefully soon. Urea also getting a little cheaper. Paid $455 for the last load in S AB. BASF finally cut the price on oddysey a little as well.

the problem with the price drops , is that farmers drift back to the same old suppliers, eventually .
giving power back to the same outfits that were screwing us in the first place.

these outfits are big enough to get in bed with Chinese suppliers and still
screw us .

another thing for all the good conservatives on here , there's talk of adopting a European set of rules on seed patents etc.
they will probably try and slip it thru when we are seeding or harvesting.

phone your MP and let them know , you don't want it.

then we will see if the govt. is for the farmer or chem/ seed giants.

after the last patent changes with Mulroney , it's apparent who he was working for.

The problem is in Horizon's case, Syngenta controls the tech to make the generic products so really the generic is not a generic. Ladder and this new Aurora FNA are not this tech. I argued with the Syngenta rep the other day about the price of Horizon (it actually went up) over last year and he said they are not adjusting it down this year. I can buy Legend at the Co-op for $3/acre cheaper and not have to wait a year for my money from Syngenta for the grower program and not have to buy 10 other things to get the price down. The rep told me they plan to wait until the Legend and next Step and everything else is out (b/c there is only so much made and its there tech) and then they wil sell Horizon later because it is the only thing left. He was trying to convince me Axial was better, but it is still a group 1 and what 2% better control for $22 an acre. Screw that. They tried to confuse the market so much with all these products - how are we suppose to remember all these names so in the end we come back and stick with what we know.

If Horizon comes down to $10.50 an acre does that not bring the price of the entire market down? Shoudl Axial, Simplicity not be $12 an acre then? I wont pay $20 an acre for the same group that kills the same when i can buy it for half the price.

They expect us to compete globally but it is a fact we pay more for our inputs then anyone else in the world. We buy all this fancy new steel and keep seeding more and more acres to try to turn a profit. Bottom line is that if we are expected to compete globally then it shoudl be a level playing field. But the fact is it never will be and we cannot produce things as cheap as someone else in the world can.

I better go seed my canola before i decide to quit farming.hahaha

Lot of fellows, myself included can't go south to buy from the US. We might not have enought to make it worthwhile, and we can't get every chemical we need. Notice how the "importers" only handle the big movers? If I order extra, will they take it back?, and how long does it take to get a few more if I have to change my spraying plans? Last year with the rains we got, some of my fields were advanced to use what I first got?

Big announcement coming from Syngenta this morning. Prices are going to be coming down!

What was the big announcement?? Did I miss something?? If the price drop is anything like the pursuit drop in price I will blow a gasket. Sure BASF is dropping the price on pursuit, but still they screwin us. Instead of screwin us for an extra 500 a jug they only gonna screw us for 200 now.. Gee thanks guys you sure are swell.. YA RIGHT.. Got all my paperwork done and approved and headin down south to pik up my pursuit. Will save over 13000 dollars on our farm alone with this one purchase. Any one purchasing locally I hope is doing it only out of desperation.. Next year the price better be at par or they can probably forget about selling it within Canada.. Has anyone priced out horizon yet south of the border?? How does it compare?

Someone correct me here if I am wrong, but I do not think Horizon is on the list of products that can be brought across. I assume FNA has actually registered there own horizon in the same manner a comnpany like Nufarm would register a product. Am I wrong?

I heard somewhere that some of this "new horizon" is packaged without the "Score" and thus you have to add a bit of change to the bill for that. Correct me if I am wrong.

Why is it that FNA and the border hoppers are only cattering to the big name generics? What about all the other ones that are used?

Horizon was dropped $3 an acre. My Syngenta rep (who is my neighbours kid) said it was to align the price with Discover in the States. Last year I paid $16.60 an acre, so if retailer keep the same margins we shoudl be in the $13.00 range which is better. I still still get the generic from the Co-op cheaper I think and not have to fool around with the grower program from Syngenta. The rep told me since Syngenta tech is in that product it will be revalued too. He tried to convince me that Axial was still the way to go, but they arent adjusting the price of that and for $10 an acre more they can go screw themselves.
