Half done. Not sure it was such a good idea to double acres without doubling the seeder.

Sprayed some, applied fertilizer. Very wet soil, sticky, slimy like snot in every dip in standing stubble. Many potholes, lots of ruts, wasting time and fuel. The wet lumps and ruts will bake into concrete, a very poor seed bed. Just a MESS when it's TOO WET! All fall tilled fields day and night better. Direct seeding into cereal stubble, impossible here for many days. Count your blessings if you are a touch dry.

fjlip,
Tell me about it. Rain makes grain man, rain makes grain. Our septic tank has been pumping out frequently, finally had a look, water is seeping in from the ground, water table is that high. I'll have to check our 30 foot well. Maybe that is why our water has been tasting a bit off lately. A four foot water table?. This would explain why the water in the fields even with recent heat is just not moving, and why all the low spots are as you said snotty. Its impossible to seed here yet. you'd get stuck each and every pass. Weeds growing, can't spray yet, it sucks in this country...
A new slogan for our region could be,
A little bit of red river valley rainfall with iqualuit heat units, right here on the prairies.
Gotta go check my septic tank, its pumping out again...
