How do grain bags do in lakes?

Something no one has mentioned is the mega numbers of grain bags which are still out to pick up. There are hundreds of them in our area alone, there has not been enough decent weather to collect this grain from the fields.

How do you think they are doing? I know for a fact most must have been combined very tough, and many are sitting in water from one end to the other. Me thinks the oats trade may also have a surprise?

    What think ye?

From what I've seen in my area, grain bags should be used for wiping someones arse. Quite a few in our area, with lots of them bust open, grain all over, deer, bear, fighting all over them...ravens on top of the ones with oats, pecking the hell out of them, some in water now with all the rain. Some guys could have set up 3 quonsets or zipper locks for the amount they spent on them and the equipment.

I feel the same. I can see the one time emergency use benefit ,but, to continue to use them year after year. Im just plain amused or is it amazed at how some people use a calculator and pencil. BTW I also notice more and more of these left over bags are finding there way to fence and tree lines which is disgusting. If farmers are going to continue to use these bags then they should have to return last years used ones to their supplier to get new ones for the up coming year.

I always thought that they were a goofy way to store grain. Same for those tubes of hay. Used to see all kinds of them for a few years but not around here anymore...too impractical and costly.

Somebody made money on the equipment, but the farmer didn't gain a helluva lot.

For a minute I thought this was a post on Saskatchewan farm wives and summer vacations.
