To bad a year from now when they do that survey, 800 out of the 900 surveyed won't be eligible to comment.

So what you're saying is that farmers aren't the ones answering the survey now.

On first reading doesn't look like anything has really changed. The majority of farmers surveyed still want either a voluntary wheat board or no wheat board at all. And as per usual the board will simply ignore them.

Wow, that's got to be the most pathetic argument
I've ever heard for the continuation of the present
voting structure of the CWB.........800 out of 900
votes presently allowed to vote were bull€#*£
farmers who couldn't muster 40 tonnes in 3 years
won't be allowed to vote anymore on how
farmers market their grain....and this is a bad
            thing ???????

Sorry, the weather is making me grumpy.

Sad thing is for me and many of you is that the board grains represent about 25-35% of your acres and less than 5-10% of your 'net' revenue. I know I could care less until pensioners keep their secure old asses out of my business and highly reduce their voting power. Until then nothing will ever change.

There are 3 guys in our area all around 82 that farm with their sons and all would love the CWB to go once and for all. So saying its the older farmers is wrong. The answer is non progressive farmers that never changed in 60 years and vote NDP are the ones who want the status quo.

I was being sarcastic. Hate our beloved CWB.

                      Let barley go.....

                      Think it will happen?

Snappy, the way the wheat board operates there may just be more truth to your sarcasm than you think.

Perhaps what I find most interesting is what the CWB chooses to release from the survey. Will note this time they chose to release age breakdown, breakdown by percent board sales and provincial breakdown of survey results.

Already highlighted, only 23 % of farmers (actually permit book holders) under 45 strongly supported the CWB (51 % if you include somewhat support). Of those older that 62 % strongly support (82 % if you include somewhat support). 50 % of farmers under 45 support an open for wheat.

Just read the boards "release" on their survey. Looks like they're burying their collective heads further in the sand.

It would be interesting to have the breakdown of survey information by farm size. The CWB used to provide a full breakdown of survey results but hasn't provided this for the past couple of years. You need to see the full breakdown of information to really understand the results.
