How does crop rotation replace nutrients? It might remove nutrients at different rates, but it won't replace them.

Parsley,
Growing food is a paradox. Manure will kill you. Fertilizer is toxic... if a tractor/cultivator or seed drill; rolls over you... your dead too!
These people who think the world is going to kill them... ARE RIGHT! IT will kill every single person who eats food!
The only question is ... WHEN...!!!

Tom - sometimes you come across like a verifiable
wing nut - too much water- too much of anything
will kill you! I never got sick spraying - did the
respirator, rubber gloves and splash apron. Sure,
when it's 95 above out and you're in a hurry, it's a
real pain. But then so is dying. One thing that needs
to be examined is the high rate of prostate cancer -
especially among neighbours and friends who are
heavily addicted to chemicals and don't bother with
protective equipment. At least that is my
observation. As for chemical companies being
concerned about your health, give me a break.
Remember Buctril M, advertised as one of the
'safest' chemicals you could use? Sure it gave a wide
window of safety to the crop you were spraying,
BUT, it had the lowest LD rate of any herbicide, just
barely above Furadan. Check those LD rates and
then apply some common sense. And if you're
spraying and not feeling very good, that should be
a bloody clue, don't you think?

1. cott, a gender debate? My! I'm not gender challenged; rather, I'm quite secure about knowing I am a woman, sorry you are having difficulty determining your gender, so out of respect for your indecision, I will courteously concede. btw, You need a new toolbox, though, yours is rusty. (Mind you, if you're eyeing up China markets again, rust is of no concern, it mixes well with melamine.) lol
As far as being a feminist, I'm afraid I'm a 'voluntarily stay at home professional', a non-traditional non-feminist who does exactly as I please, and can wash a bull, combine, paint, and swear, all before you finally roll out of bed in the morning. You are a much more accomplished feminist than I; that I must concede.
Mind you, I admit to being married to the same man for 42 years, so keep in mind I am indeed fickle.
2. Ranger, 6 or 7 years of land in sainfoin adds nitrogen to the soil and makes for another round of good clean crops.
3. Tinker, even the CEO of Monsanto buys organic food. Why would he would buy if I wore 'protective gear' when planting the crop? lol
4. Rocky, that's not even funny any more, is it..."respirator, rubber gloves and splash apron" Good grief. Do chemical-farmers also wear one of those protective devices similar to the ones you wear when you get an x-ray...when you sit up to the table for dinner? All of you should probably wear diaper-type protection. Maybe Monsanto can develop and patent and sell them to you. Pars
ps: Had lettuce and radish and onion salad from the garden tonight, and have one potato plant with blooms. Wireworms have hatched.

Pars, I know Tom is an encyclopedia of knowledge, but
who owns 'those' anymore? Anachronism, maybe?
Sometimes his passions exceed his knowledge? My
comments regarding protective gear go back to a time
when 'organic' hadn't even occurred. I was just trying
to make a reference to 'common sense'. You know, the
kind like should I or shouldn't I wear a helmet when
tearing around on the quad? Fun and easy until you
have a wreck. Then what do you leave behind?
