    The other extreme

In our part of the peace the three inch raisnow on
May long was welcome after a two year drought.
We have no rain since and crop will start to
suffer soon. Hay and pasture is already in
    trouble.

Cereals and peas are good. There are issues
with canola related to cold weather, frost,
disease, flea nestles and now what appears to be
the high cycle of cutworms. There are and will be
    considerable acres lost.

On the canola front we are battling cutworms
cycle that has taken out big areas with more to
    come.

I feel for those getting hammered with two much
rain. I will take the cutworms and dry over too
    much rain.

    Good luck to all.

I hear you northfarmer. Brother lives in GP so I hear what's happening your way. The first major cutworm damage, 50 acres was last year for us. Never been an issue before that. Is that correct you never see diamond back worms due to the forest between us and the south winds they come up on? How about Bertha army worms? We would trade you rain for some dry in a heart beat. That is beautiful country your way.

We get berthas, flea beetles, and lygus. Never
        dealt with diamond backs yet.

As the saying goes, do not count the bushels till
they are in the pit. Or as one buddy says you
start with 60 and count down with each calamity.

Seems like old Ralph has changed his tune over the years. Back when he was young and working with Otto Lang they were trying to reduce the CWB's powers. I think it was on their watch that off-board feed grains got going as well as dropping restrictions on the interprovincial movement of wheat.

Wow our MP from Wascana Ralphy boy just proves why the Liberanos will never get any more seats in west. Ralph its raining and raining and raining. The CWB is not on farmers minds. Here is a hint ralphy boy you haven't had to water your grass in Regina since spring. Hm. But they keep trying to beat a dead horse. Now if they said they would end it before the Conservatives who knows. But right now Ralphy boy is way out of touch with rural saskatchewan.

Know it is not the top of the mind issue but would be interesting that one of the non elected directors is the chief executive officer. Might be a good step to remove the CEO from the B of D and keep that individual focused on operations issues.

bucket - It was Goodale who set up the CWB governace structure.

                  Thanks charlie

I thought is was. Its interesting that all he is doing by this is changing the voting structure at the board of directors.

The majority is swinging to an open market and by reducing and changing so that the board votes on two of the unelected directors, goodale figures he can keep a single desk.

But like sf3 says maybe he ought to adress the coming disaster.

Besides at this point in time what does the cwb have to do?

The 09/10 crop is sold and the 10/11 crop is not looking to good.

                    Charlie

                    Another question.

Isn't goodale admitting he screwed up by wanting to change what he put in place?

First off, private members bills almost never go anywhere.

Secondly, these turkey's are all going on vacation in a couple of days. There's no time for Goodale to do anything.

It's all a big show. But it does show how out of touch the Liberals are. And Ritz's comments in the article show that the Conservatives are just about as out of touch on this issue as the Liberals. Enough with this getting cute with directors elections, let us sell our own grain already.

It's drying out up here bigtime. Canola wilting, barley yellowing, cows are going to run out of pasture if we don't get an inch or two very soon. This is shaping up to year 3 for drought up here, you southerners have had it pretty good last few years I think - high prices, good yeilds. I can only sympathise a little bit on your troubles with too much rain.
