Only in Canada Is High Protein Wheat A bother!

Seems 15.6 protein wheat was just to hard for our local terminal to get in so it partially heated and now is being sold as feed. All winter they were trying to take it but problems at terminal for space etc. Put off this last bag over and over got 10000 out of bag in April last left till after seeding dried but has 2% heated in grain. Its dry and protein is 15.6. So selling as feed wheat. Here is my problem in any other country with out the CWB product like this would be in high demand and would be picked up as soon as possible but with the CWB one for all system it is just a by product you have to wait your turn etc BS. So what I am saying in Canada with the CWB system their is no desire for the Farmer,Grain company etc to work for product and make a buck. Hm didn't Russia have a similar problem where grain rotted before it made it to market. Way to go Stalin your alive and well in Winter-peg.

        Stubble,

There is supposed to be (was) delivery allowances to clean up these kinds of piles in the fall...(within a few months) NOT after over 6 months.

The CWB has lost track of where they came from and who they are supposed to serve.

If it had been Canola... long before seeding it would have been gone!

so to clean up the piles and bags the cwb should give on the price in order to move the product? i think they should because that's what individual producers would do. on the other hand why lower returns for everybody because some had to take a risk on storage? if they move the grain at a lower price to save the quality tom will be screaming about what a lousy job they do and if they just order the grain co.'s to take it in (can they even do that?) tom will scream because the govt. agency is interfering with private co.'s and plugging up the system. storage is the producer's responsibility or should there be a $30/tonne payment for bags that went bad?

The risk gets greater with more tonnes/acres one farms. I know we are small farmers(only 5000ac) compared to s/f but we turned all our wheat and canola at least once and some 2-3x this winter - but then again we don't take much for holidays. Storage is producers reponsibilty, but it is also the responsibility of grain/rail and the borg to move your/their grain when they say they are.

Here's a bizarre idea....Let SF3 haul the wheat to the elevator and price it like he could with canola...ie. spot price, basis contract, Nov futures, etc. I guess he would need to own his own wheat in order to do that. Some people would say he does own his own wheat but if he did, he could do what he wanted to.

                jensend,

Either we suck it up, allow the pool to share risk for us... or not pool.

I get very tired of the 'pool' risk being past back to grain growers... yet none of the risk that traditionally we had the opportunity to pass to the pool... are allowed now.

Cleaning up piles and grain out of flood areas had been one benefit in the not too distant past. The right to switch crop years with our board grain was another risk management tool that helped the individual grower by sharing risk.

Moving bags into the system should be no different than the red river valley farmers moving grain when there is a threat of a flood.

Its rare for the board not to kiss the rrv farmers ass to maintain support their and ensure their kids get jobs.

But sf3 why didn't the board give you special provisions to move your grain like those farmers in Manitoba.

And by the way you should have asked for the same upgrade as the fusarium program. From a feed to a #2.

Good point bucket I was more inclined to think that it is entirely the farmers fault for the spoilage which it still is but the CWB with all their elected dixxs should have been able to help. Anyway the neighbor here just buried his semi unloading the bag.
