    Terminals bagging grain

Our local grain terminal is bagging grain and renting
it out as condo space. Sure helped out with the big
carry over of durum we had.

good idea, are they supplying the extractor as well? I imagine you have to empty the bags or are the fees including that?

The farmer hauls the grain to to the terminal and
gets a scale ticket. The terminal cleans the grain
and puts it in the bag and the grain is the terminals
Responsibilty after that. The grain is bagged and
stored on location at the terminal on some land
        that they own.

They charge a fee of $10 tonne for this service.
They pay a $5 tonne trucking incentive to get the
        grain.

Oh, the irony. Once again the private trade helps to clean up a wheat board created problem.

            Francisco...

The Wheat Board created a surplus? Seems like they are blamed for any problem connected with grain production.

Who do you blame for gluts of canola, flax, rye, oats or lentils?

do they want to clean up the problem or are they taking advantage of an opportunity to increase revenues and profits? probably not an act of charity; just sound business.

It is good business, buy low - sell high, that grain is going into next crop year and being priced at almost double what you are getting in the pit. You sell me a BMW at a chev price and I will take it off your hands.

No, the wheat board is not to blame for production issues. It is to blame for not marketing all of the durum it could when the prices were the highest ever. Instead it decided to hold durum off the market until it went into the tank. All while giving western Canadian farmers the signal to grow more of the stuff.

The wheat board screwed up the durum market willie. It's the only crop they actually have significant market share in and they royally screwed it up.

GST should look briliant if there is a shitty Grade pattern this year. A bit risky for them though. How do the crops look out your way Jason?
