Swath the outside couple of rounds, and combine them separate. If it is really bad, then bale them up and burn it. Give the headlands a good burn off in the spring to get rid of the grass.

Ergot is just another fungus that likes bromo grasses and will show up in wheat, rye and other grasses. It can be controlled, but is deadly poisonous in livestock feed, and flour/bread

Furrow.... If you binned that separate, I wonder if a Specific gravity cleaner would take it out? If it could, then DEFINITELY burn that crap.

There used to be a market for Ergot. Anyone know if it still exists?

A freind of mine cleaned all his wht this past winter/spring - used a gravity table. Went from feed/unsaleable to #1. Slow and painfull as the wht was tough as well but he got it done. We already had a chat and a few beer cause without a doubt elevators are frothing at the mouth on stealing downgraded wht from ergot and wht midge.

When ergot was a problem in the 2008 durum the WIT in Weyburn installed a special cleaner to get a better grade for farmers.
