Please feel free to pass on.
Please find the attached information on the second Agri-Investment Symposium will take place on November 8 and 9, 2010, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
As you know, the first Agri-Investment Symposium was held in March 2010 in Toronto where 8 agri-based companies were provided with the opportunity to pitch their innovative business venture to 20 potential investors. Post-event evaluation results showed high levels of participant satisfaction with 50% of presenting companies and 53% of investors either entering into a business deal or potentially entering into a business deal as a result of the Symposium.
The call for investment ready agri-entrepreneurs to pitch at the upcoming Saskatoon Symposium has just been launched on the AAFC website; and, we would welcome the Investment Working Group’s help in spreading the news. Please note that, although the event is being held in Saskatoon, any company across Canada can qualify to present. If you or your colleagues know of eligible agri-technologies, or if there are organizations that work with investment-ready agri-entrepreneurs, please feel free to forward this information to them.
In addition to the organizations identified in the attached list, please note that we have already sent the attached announcement to the following organizations: Golden Opportunities Fund Inc.; Saskatchewan Research Council; Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre Inc.; POS Pilot Plant Corp; ALMASA Capital Inc.; PFM Capital Inc.; Farm Credit Canada; Growth Works Canadian Fund; Crown Capital Partners Inc.; Investment Saskatchewan Inc.; Enterprise Saskatchewan; the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture; and to our AAFC Regional and Research Offices across the country.
We have asked each of these organizations to forward this information to start-up and growth-stage agri-enterprises seeking capital from private investors. We have also indicated that any entrepreneurs interested in presenting their agri-business venture to potential investors in Saskatoon must submit a formal “Request to Present” to AAFC by September 15, 2010. Further information and instructions for agri-entrepreneurs are available at www.agr.gc.ca/agri-symposium .
If you are aware of other organizations currently working with investment ready agri-entrepreneurs interested in presenting at the Symposium, please forward them this notice or contact myself or Paula Cipriano, Manager of Promoting Agri-Based Opportunities, at 613-773-0280 or paula.cipriano@agr.gc.ca and we will ensure they receive the Symposium announcement.
If you could forward this on to all the members of our Investment Working Group for their information and action, it would be sincerely appreciated.
