So with all this back and forth on the CWB issue why don't we do a bit of a contest. Everybody in gets let's say what how about 50,000 bushels of hrsw, 50,000l bushels of durum. The kicker would be the grades because we don't know it yet but maybe that would make this more realistic. Board supporters tell us how much and when you would sell throughout the year and what board option you would use. Board haters lets assume no CWB you could sell direct to the USA or wherever. tell us how many bushels and when anytime in the next year you would sell your wheat. At the end of the crop year we see who's on top? While at it why not throw in 50,000 bushels of canola and tell us when you'd sell same deal at end of crop year let's see who comes out on top? Maybe there would be no takers but I think it would be interesting to see how it would shake out in the end.

riders2010,
You miss the point:
AWB sets up pools and cash prices... the Ontario Board does the same.
Who establishes the basis and spreads between different classes (types; CPS Red/CWRS for example) when our prices are based off initial prices rather than market conditions?
When 13%px Winter wheat sells for more than 13px spring wheat in the US... how can the CWB justify the $40/t discount?
Markets will go up and down... that is a given. I do not 'hate' the CWB. I do however require them to be honest. Any marketer can set up a 'pool'.
As can you; riders2010.. your own 2010-11 pool.
However when the CWB buy-back costs $400/t to access the market outside the 'designated area'... the CWB simply stopped sales outside the pooling system.
Why isn't there a cash price, all year long? Why don't these cash prices make a pool... instead of the CWB pool being the default and manditory?
Why only one CWB wheat pool per year?
Same for Durum? Does the CWB believe they can tell the future... therefore justify the massive decrease in inventory values from lack of market access?
Who pays for these costs riders2010?
The CWB is protecting millers. The cost is massive to 'designated area' growers.
What more needs to be said than DTN wheat news yesterday that Egypt is buying Canadian wheat because US wheat is too expensive?

No actually I don't miss the point, I fully understand all the lack of transparency, high costs etc, inability to market when you want, having to pay a premium to get a price, on all of that I stand in the camp of let's have the option of staying in it or doing your own thing because I want to do my own thing. But maybe I didn't make what I was after clear. I keep hearing after the fact experts for example wheat US is 7 bucks, We all hear on this forum gee I would have sold for 7 bucks and the wheat board is only this or that and when the 7 goes to 4 wheat boarders reply would you sell now etc. I just thought it interesting maybe even a bit of fun to see the outcome even in the case of canola I hear guys say gee last year canola was 10 bucks for a week why didn't you sell well here is your chance to show us before the facts are in. Although I suppose there are a lot of factors that should be included also for example I am offerring people to make a choice on 50,000 bu in the bin but I hear people saying in july or august why didn't you lock in well maybe because there may not be the 50,000 bu to play with. But anyhow I just thought like I said to put some grit into people saying gee I would have done this or that after the fact by using a small simplified dynamic.

I forgot to mention, the guys that cost you and me all this money who are they? Is it the blind boarders or is it the directors or is it the current and past governments that let this bullshit go on, it certainly isn't me!

Aw c'mon CP - don't hold back. Tell us how you really feel.
riders2010 - your little exercise is a waste of time if you are trying to expose or highlight something regarding the CWB vs anti-CWB argument.
It might be fun for some to compete/compare on picking markets and market timing but that's not the CWB argument. So don't make it a competition between The Borg and everyone else.

Rider2010, would you let me out of the CWB as long as I could not come back in? If you did and I was the only farmer allowed to, then I could retire in 2 years when a larger farmer would pay me a $2,000,000 for that precious privilege.
You can have your CWB, and let us out, if you are right then the CWB will make you money and I will suffer a terrible fate, which I glady ask for.
Rider2010, let me guess, your farm was your fathers and it is small (under 2,500 ac per family member).

The most shortsighted people I know are CWB supporters. Firstly, according to supporter's views on election results, the majority support the board so why are they so afraid if they provide choice and let the few opt out that want out. Secondly, if pooling was such a great thing, imagine the possibilities for a voluntary CAPB (Canadian AgriProducts Board) if the CWB branched off into pooling of specialty crops, oilseeds, cattle, input purchases, etc. Thirdly, those that would opt out would be eaten alive by the multinationals so they shouldn't provide competition to non-greedy farmers for too long. Lastly but most importantly, READ THIS.....it's about personal choice and the freedom to market your own wheat/barley like other farmers around this democratic country!

Can you not read, I unlike Tom hate the board, I want my option out how many times do I have to say it.
I merely provided a simplified forum where supporters and haters could show how thier side is the answer, yet isn't funny how each side is scared shitless to answer such an easy question. And that is what this should all be about, how much freakin money and when we can get it from our wheat.
But that simple little question unanswered but yet has spoken volumes hasn't it!
The blind supporters scared shitless because they know any moron could out market them so there is no reply from them. And on the other extreme the blind haters, that are either the brainwashed or brainwashers, that have changed this issue into the "let's carry the flag of freedom and justice for western canada farmers up the hill to Ottawa." Well wakey wakey boys and girls you are the ****in government and can change this bullshit in minute but when you have no assembled organized agricultural policy to keep cattlemen and grain farmers and the industry viable you make up this imaginary problem and turn it into a method of becoming a single issue to save your political ass. Not one side of the 2 extremes is better than the other. The conservative government and their blind supporters and the blind board supporters have cost all of us a shit load of money cotton included.

Focusing on returns in my books misses a basic fundamental right but with that being said I'll play your game but with which rules...Minneapolis (US version of high quality) although it forgoes any premium for Cdn HRS, starting now misses any opportunities over the last year, can we sell the crop but buy back on paper (eg. options), what market do we use for durum outside CWB's info (I don't grow it so really have no idea if there is a US equivalent...CPS (Kansas), HRSW (Minneapolis) and lastly, for those close to the border, can they use US elevator prices less their cost to transport there? There may be other things to consider as well.
