    Long Guns

MP's will vote whether or not Hoeppner's private member's bill should proceed to 3rd reading on 22 Sept.

Since this bill will impact farmers, what are your thoughts on the Long Gun Registry? Or gun licensing in general? Pars

What is the Big Frickin deal. Register your guns like you register your car and move on . There are far More important issues that need to be dealt with.

Any study that shows its benefit has been hidden by harper.
Now they want to become more like the U.S and go on a Prison building plan.Even though crime rate is dropping, Stockwell Day knows in his heart of hearts that crime is unreported and we need bigger and better prisons.

Thought for the day . The U.S has more people imprisoned than the rest of the world combined. Maybe it has something to do with privatization of prisons. Build them and they will come. The more imprisoned the more money for the shareholders. And Harper thinks we need to go to this?

This is actually very important vote. It will be one of the few times misguided government policy gets overturned in this country. Very important precedent. The registry is a tool for harassment of rural Canada by ignoramouses in urban Canada with the goal of confiscation. So the vote on the registry represents a lot more than a simple registration process.

            Mustard you said
"This Harper gov't never lets the facts get in the
way of any decision based on ideology"

I would argue the Liberals did this for years keeping the monopoly powers of the CWB and now the climate change advocates who do not base any of their claims on the facts.

Seems like all governments follow this format. Why shouldn`t more free votes be held. Isn`t that why we elected them, to represent us, not the party???

Next will be the butcher knife registry. Like
criminals register their weapons. This law is
useless. They could have spent the billions on
                education, crime prevention, etc.

Stop the waste of my taxes.

When the gun registry came in i read a article. A man, a farmer was out shoooting beavers or some other vermin. On the way home he had a heart attack and died in his pickup. The police arrived at his home and informed his wife she was a widow. She was standing in the doorway in a state of shock when the rcmp asked if there was other guns in the house, which to she answered yes. They took away his other long guns becuase his wife was not a registered gun owner. This will never happen to my wife. The police should be ashamed as anyone voting liberal. Many times from people who should know what they are talking about have said the gun registry had nothing to do about guns, in the fine print it gave police for any reason to enter someones home. This is why it was shoved down our throats.
