Are we having fun yet! Harvest Update.

So basically in two days with three machines we got 2 quarters done. WO HO!
    Here is some stats.
5 big machines on peas 2 days for 320 acres.
Smaller neighbor doing canola 4 days for quarter and no its not running 60 its running water.
Most have two tow ropes one for use and one for spare.
Some will get a very sad surprise when they start STANDING HRS BARLEY OATS OR DURUM. The sun and wind cant get down to the ground level to dry out the ground. I hate swathing but at least it is working till next big rain.
Were doing oats yesterday. high elevation compared to area, all landscaped and basically very well laid out quarter. The swather spun for half mile up and back the whole field. FUN TIMES BOYS>
Be safe a crop isnt worth dying over.

30 days of good no great harvesting weather. Looking like we will be burning, no harvesting in spring.
Maybe thats why swathing is working put in rows burn in spring. Ah the fun continues. How long for you edgeley looks really wet also.

Ya, I am by Edgeley. For some reason the picture did not come through showing our grain cart stuck with the on wheel out of sight.
Probably have 20 days to go. We are very wet but maybe not as bad as you. For the last few days we have had combines stuck on ave 5 times/day. The grain cart guy is gettting good at rolling and unrolling tow straps!
I am hopping things will improve from now on.

Woke up to rain in Edmonton this morning. Good drying weather on the weekend and better after today but still the nuisance factor.

And the radar shows moving south to Red Deer! How much rain? Looks way more than a "shower" in forecast! If we get ten drops, harvest might be over. Too COLD and HUMID. Half a tenth Sunday and wheat back to 19%.

Lots of rain in Central Alberta this morning, heading east. We had a good run over the weekend, but have been drying a fair bit. Yields are about as expected, no problem with ground moisture. Crop quality: excellent for canola, peas should make a human grade, cereals are fading daily, now grading 2-3. We'll be shut down for a couple of days again, time to refill the propane tanks.

We had to do a combine cleanout yesterday going from canola to seed wheat and opened it up to find the concave hanging down. Got rolling by 4:30 but managed to finished the field between mini showers. Thank god for good help.

6tenths of an inch so far at 10 AM near Edmonton. Got some crop in since starting on Saturday but heavy dew meant late starts. We're screwed now for at least 3-4 days assuming really good weather going forward.Picked some swathed peas late last night, had been caught by rain 20 days ago. Juicy. Like peeling off a scab to see whats underneath. Hope someone can use sprouted, tagged, damp peas.

Started combining peas flat on ground, not sure moisture yet, some maybe 24 some may be 10 in hopper.
Did that cart come out yet?

Just start that CAT and pull, doesn't even look like you
spun a track. Those axles on that J&M are 6", if it don't
come, unload and pull some more. Also you should
keep those front weights on all the time, just adjust
ballast with saddles and idler weights.

Half an inch at Lacombe today. We were combining standing soft wheat yesterday and only got down to nineteen late last night. Had tenth on Sunday just as crop got dry. In our area anyone without a grain dryer has not yet started. Ground is wet and have been stuck a few times but is manageable. Not likely to resume harvest till Friday unless we want to harvest mid twenty moisture.

finished the peas late PM just before a shower passed through. Going to help the daughter and son in law with irrigated canola and then try the lentils.Neighbour went by with his Versatile 4 wheeler so someting must be in a rut... Guys around here have given up on lentils and are working on canola and the odd one trying wheat.
