    Locked in green canola ?

    Never had a problem ever with green count until today. Got onto 3 different fields that were swathed on the 12th and 13th. Don't remember what night later the first frost was.The green count is 6 to 10% with slight frost damage (no doubt the green ones). My agent feels it will take a rain to get it down. Not sure but thinking I'd rather take my lumps and get it in the bin and market it as best I can than risk leaving it out.What has anyone got for advice on what to do because this is a whole new experience for me.....

      What is MT? If it's dry the green usually will not decrease. Ours is 20% with 7 green, so hoping it goes down as it dries.

        Try to get it under 6% for sure the tolerance for a #2

          It is at around 6.5 to 7% moisture and is I believe 9553 from proven seeds.An RR hybrid.

            Sorry bud, the green lock in because the seed freezes before the enzyme that changes the color is formed. If it's that dry I would say it is what it is. Talk to the crushers, they will be more flexible with the green content.

              I got a little ahead of myself...Is there a little yellow in the middle of the seeds? Once the seeds start turning they will continue to turn if the get a little moisture in them. If there is no yellow in them then there will be no further changes.

                It bothers me that someone asked what variaty it is. Variaty makes no differnce. The moisture does make a difference. In this case it is take it off and move on.

                9553 is a great hybrid, don't let anyone stop you from using it.
