Just sold some $13.30 nexera and $11.60 regular canola. I see wheat hit $7 a bus on FPC. Doesn't take much yield to make a profit. With prices where they at I would think fert could still increase 50% whether you have a crop or not

We just covered our 2011 needs so it will hold steady then drop $100/T in spring!!! LOL
Have to get fert bins empty by Tues.
Didn't take long to spend the 2010 income!!!
NuGlo, Invigor seed and fert paid for, Liberty booked (NO 864L TOTES FOR 2011 !!! WTF, give your Bayer rep H$ll if you talk to one.
      Undecided on fuel for now.
If Canola hits $15 I might start dreaming of some newer iron or a shop again.
Otherwise hands in pockets at sales and try and stay debt free and wait for the crash.

What happened to all the glut of left over fert in western canada from spring? Just vanish? Every fert plant here (dry and liquid) is full to the nuts of cheap fert from spring and has been for months. It is a free for all for those fukers right now... Touch your toes boys and happy thanks giving, cause we about to get'er with a smile and a hand shake.

The trouble is that fertilizer industry is an oligopoly. So they can raise price with bearish fundamentals. We need offshore supplies to arrive in order to stop the escalation. We used chinese urea in 2009 with excellent results. Hoping similar product shows up this winter.

Since your comment is probably pointed at me charlie with the cutting back expenses. Its simple actually, this year prime example Dealer convinced guys to over spend and over spend on crop that was doomed since spring. Now a few are in trouble in our area, Hm how easy it will be to buy them out. But I will have competition from the Dealer who sold them the product. You do your math ill do mine.

It seems to me that with the rally in grain prices everyone is going to plant everything and try to max out on yields. I am going to price some fertilizer...maybe not all I need for next year but some. I just don't see it going down and I paid through the nose last time it went through the roof.

Know-it-all Larry Weber - You wish you were half as smart as Burbert!!! Take your Black Berry & stick it where the sun don't shine. We farmers don't have time to play on the phone like you all day. Why don't you get some skin in the game & try farming for one year then come on here & give us your supposed wealth of knowledge.

Are you ever brave....hiding behind an acronym.

Care to estimate how much money I lost starting Fertilizer Buddy two years ago because it was the right thing to do?

So don't fn tell me I have no skin the game.

Average is the most useless stat there is. A few verry high numbers can offset allot of pretty marginal numbers. That means that in reality there could be a third of the acrew that are exceptional with rest being fairly poor. The poor yielding areas won't have a pile of excess cash.

                      BTO;

Your attack on LWeber was mean... as was the bb technology; for those who take the time to be informed.

Thanks Larry for ALL your very long hours and great info you provide us!

Very much appreciated from this end... from a dusty old farmer.

It may be hard to teach old dogs new tricks... but it is even harder to teach 'old' too proud farmers anything!

Ask the CWB... it is what they count on!

Any farmer that doesn't realize that sometimes we can make more money off a 5 minute phone call than we can make in a week on the tractor had better get a time machine so they can go back to the 60s.

I think fertilizer buddy was a great service. Having knowledge of actual input prices has saved me money these last couple of years. Thanks Larry.
