The problem was there were two federal agents, the farmer must be ticketed or one federal agent would be in trouble for not following rules. What could be done differently is leave crop standing until ready to combine, put scare cannons on field, use stakes and garbage bags as flags. Really I don't think he would have been ticketed if there was only one agent. Just my opinion. The goose problem didn't arrive yesterday, its a real growing problem. I remember in my dad's day the geese were known not to stand or shit on the swath. If I down a field especially these days I watch it daily.

Oh Pars, I'm pretty sure we're doing our part for the wildlife!

Thank you for the clarification, Parsley.

Males passed a law by voting to take the yoken coat off women, and they found a person.

Yet, perhaps the ancestral males should have left the candy as it was because now M&M's come with a pretzel inside.

I believe I understand the concept, now!!!

Sure turned into quite the philosophical discussion
considering it all started out with one illegally
possessed goose. Just fyi Pars, I think it all started with
the invention of the automatic transmission, heh heh!

Bravo all!! I learned some stuff and likely some others did as well.
I still think that the wildlife agents should be driving marked vehicles. Lately I'm going down the road hauling bales looking at every pickup as potentially suspect. These parts used to be my comfort zone and frankly I liked it a lot better that way. HT

It's pretty hard to get into a debate when you can't agree on basic principles. That is apparently because some people don't believe that laws should be obeyed; the law is an ass etc. That is dangerous ground and not a sound foundation for society. Shame on such people.

On the flip side, I had an incident several years ago
where some good old boys from the city were out
and about having a good time with a quart or two
and were essentially breaking every law in the book.
The last straw was when they began firing from
inside their Suburban through my yard at some deer
that were sitting on a hillside (as I was walking
through the yard). Out of deer season at that time. I
called the RC's who told me to call Wildlife. Wildlife
said to call the RC's as it was a gun incident, and oh
by the way, we're so busy we couldn't attend for 3
days at least anyway. Shit stick either way. I'm sure
though that they were responsible law abiding gun
owners just out having a good time!

Your places to hide, HT, just became even smaller. The police have been assigned to highway crews pretending to be road surveyors. They are there to catch speeding farmers. These neighbours of yours are rushing through 60 km/hr highway working zones to get to their farms to protect their crops from foraging geese.

That is the excuse I'm hearing from some as to why they shouldn't be required to obey any laws of the road.

                      Checking;

"Some for the bin, some for the banker, some for the birds."

You forgot about the cut for the CWB.

I let my neighbours feed the geese... they can swath and feed if they want.

Really ... we do not need the goose terds in our shreddies and toast!

The site needs a little stirring once in awhile. Rockpile thrives when he gets a sharp poke once in awhile, so I'll have to work on that. LOL.

I was one of the first border runners, oneoff, protesting against the CWB, actually carrying a big bag of milling wheat from Saskatchewan, into Manitoba along #1 Hwy. It was the first border run.

                        (International border running came later.)

So realize you are dealing with a criminal lawbreaking renegade.

I didn't have the required interprovincial CWB permit, which is required to move milling wheat from province to province, and not only that, but the police were asked to help with the traffic and they did.

CWB legislation, as it exists, I viewed then and still do, is an ass.

I thought about what my actions meant. And I was fully prepared to go to jail.

You consider me a disrespectful outlaw? And quite dangerous? LOL

It's a long chilly October night. Maybe I can become sheepish. Pars
